Short Takes: 2002 Volkswagen Passat GLX V6 (Start Up, Engine, Tour)

Sunday, December 18th, 2011 admin

In continuation of my “Short Takes” video series at All City Auto, I give a tour of a 2002 VW Passat V6. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.
Video Rating: 4 / 5

Can VW really deliver an SUV for people who want it all?

@BluerimTech i agree :)

@eliruben123 just saw this response since I dont use the account. I think (to oversimplify it) that the computer system in the car limits your RPMs to avoid damage to the engine. If you look at a lot of the technology design in the car, theres a lot to make sure that drivers can’t hurt the car, like the system that causes it to reduce available power during engine malfunction to stop complete shut down. But honestly, you won’t get ideal torque and accel at 6500 so doesnt matter much

wish my gold had the v6 not that tiny 4cyl.. -_-

My friend has a Passat V6 and it sounds like a lawn mower.

@seanf125l I drive the same car minus the 4motion plus the v6 and the only thing i dislike is that even in manual mode (i have an auto trans) I can’t get the full 6500 rpms out of the engine… it always shifts around 5750 :(

By crashtest2302 on December 18th, 2011 at 7:46 am

what would you value this car at?

Great car. I have the 02 glx 4motion, well over 150k and no problems. the car is smooth, handles well and the overall quality feel is there. i drive on poorly maintained dirt roads multiple times a week-no rattles.obviously you need to be on top of everything (oil, and other fluids, etc.) but of you are, this car will go forever.most complaints i see are easily avoidable. people just complain when they screw up and dont understand real maintenance (newsflash-you need to go beyond oil change)

Great video and Channel! But i was wondering if it isnt any trouble is to find the W8 model (sedan/wagon) and do a video review? im looking in to getting one soon and would like to know more about the vehicle besides the fact of it being a rare car.

Yo tengo un Passat 1999 verde,V4 1.8 ,acientos de piel :P

@griefer1 We have a 2002 with well over 230k that still runs great and has had very few problems overall. Bass is pretty good with the Monsoon system. Comparatively speaking, domestic and Japanese cars may be cheaper to maintain, but a Passat from this model range was meant to be a bit more car…so you pay a bit more to own it. In my opinion, totally worth every single penny!

HELL YES 2:00 BLUE OYSTER CULT!!!

lol “nice and quite” dosent sound like it. im seriously thinking about getting a 1999 GLX how good are they overall? im concerned about the tune up cost that ive heard are expensive and on a side note anyone now how the bass sounds ? thanks :)

It´s really really beautiful car. :) I want to buy one here in Slovakia :) But I´m just 17 now, and I have to wait :D never mind. :P

Thanks for uploading! The Volkswagen Passat is my favorite car from Volkswagen! I hope I get one!

I just bought a white TDI Lux for my wife for Christmas… the dealership will deliver on Christmas eve. I already test-drove it… a-mazing! I’m very proud and thankful to be able to offer my family this vehicle.

that is one big ass screen…

Don’t say you’re gonna keep a glock with an extra clip in the glove compartment or your friend’s are gonna think you’re a tool!

By StopCryingImHere on December 18th, 2011 at 3:08 pm

@rjpdrjpd thats so true american top gear is sooo bad but no one is or ever will be as good as clarkson, this guy may be smart but he’s so pesimistic sometimes

look at 6:26 :-D :-D:-D

By fiyhighboys on December 18th, 2011 at 3:48 pm

hahahahaha he said he keep a glock in there with an extra clip.

About the adaptive head beams, I guess Mercedes was first to have that!

Cooley is the man, hide a glock with the extra clip. LOL
Out of all the wanna be car rewivers, he is the best, witty, intelligent.
If they would hire him for U.S. Top Gear he would give J. Clarkson run for his money.
