The 2009 Volkswagon Passat CC apparently is better than Mercedes CLS and Audi A4. What do you guys think? Comments are welcomed!

@teisenmenger Agreed. It makes me sad that I’ll never be able to get a GTD. :(

@stevehammes oh, okay then!

By stevehammes on December 7th, 2011 at 10:20 am

@posro1988 I don’t recall. It was a year ago.

why is he reving it so hard?

@rally240 this is something unheard of to me.. vw are one of the most reliable cars. however ive heard that the reason they are cheaper in the US is because of the slightly lower quality lol but thats probably bs.

By crimsoninred on December 7th, 2011 at 12:15 pm

i dont get it why there is such negativity with diesels in the US and canada. in the philippines where i came from diesels are common, no problems and very inexpensive. i believe it dpends on the owners driving style and strictly following maintenance schedule to really max out a diesel car.

i had a diesel nissan van before and its fine nothing to weird like emissions or engine noise. yes a stronger rattle was felt when idling but its very livable.

are Volkswagens reliable? I hear they have a lot of issues, particularly electrical problems. My brother had a 96 Golf and it was the worse car ever, wouldn’t start in the rain, snow, even stalled in puddles. And had major electrical problems. My neighbor has a Cabrio with the same issues. Both cars were low mileage with clean titles and in good shape, stock. Anyone have stories about VW that they would like to share. I’d really be interested! I want to purchase a VW Golf TDI. or a 07 Rabbit

By teisenmenger on December 7th, 2011 at 12:31 pm

VW: please bring the GTD to the USA!! The TDI is nice, but I’d love the GTI trim and an additional 30hp!!

@MrBabirusa Well I have to accept that the GTI is a lot of fun, but if 0-60 times arent important for you then take the TDI. It will also save you cash on the fuel costs :P

@Blunder1248 how reliable has that car been for you? I really want this car but there’s not a dealership within a reasonable distance from me. I don’t want to drive/tow 60 miles every time I need something.

@juukame I would buy a stripped-down version of this. box-stock bare bones. I have no use for a touch screen in the steering wheel. Stuff like that always breaks around me anyway.

get the freaking Xenon, this thing looks stupid with halogen lights

if you look at the spec sheet for one of these there really are a lot of extra accessories standard on it, like the touch screen the steering wheel the alloys , fog lights, sport suspension, to name a few. if you took away all those the diesel would be much cheaper and probably more appealing than the petrol version

@bg1379 just saying, i would hardly call this car a compact. i went to test drive this car the other day (the gti anyway) with 2 of my friends, and in the two door model my 6’1” friend sat behind my 6’6” self with room to spare. in fact, both friends came away saying that the interior felt more spacious than my 2004 mazda 6.

the only thing is that the trunk is a little tiny.

@flyerholland

Well, obviously its all relative, man. We pay more for some things, and less for others. And, if you pay the same for a new Golf TDI as you would for a 3 year old A6 3.2 quattro, which would you get?

By Charles2337 on December 7th, 2011 at 4:16 pm

If you go on a lot of road trips, get a diesel.

By flyerholland on December 7th, 2011 at 4:48 pm

@bg1379 you want quality u pay the price.. i think u have no idea what we pay for cars like these in europe so u shoulnd be complaining.

By Blunder1248 on December 7th, 2011 at 5:35 pm

My MK4 TDI does about 500 miles to a tank!

$25 grand for a GOLF!!! THAT IS INSANE!! If I really wanted something German I’d get a used A6 over a $25 grand compact!

Could you get it for much less than MSRP or is this for real?

By austinman1995 on December 7th, 2011 at 6:22 pm

@itsTiLER This car smells like hot air, no black smoke my friend.

@itsTiLER

But modern diesels have changed that

My bro had a 2000 Golf 1.9 Tdi and that has none of those flaws

Its the same with his 02 Passat 1.9 TDI

@TheVtieg6 diesels still have a smelly, black exhaust reputation in the states. so people tend to avoid them. thats why we only have like 10 passenger cars with diesel engines(excluding the heavy duty pick-ups)

I dont know about over there but in U.K diesels hold more resale value

shity camera :-q

I think the a4 looks way better than the cc! The back end of the cc has a really weird look.

By EliteSlayer542 on December 7th, 2011 at 9:33 pm

Dude, at this price you should go for a Mercedes c-class or BMW 3 series!

Seriously, it doesn’t sell because who would buy this if they can get BMW, audi or Mercedes for about the same price!

Ever wonder why theirs 100x more c-class mercs or bmw 3 series’ on the road? LOL

I have the CC. The VR6 is wayy over-priced and over-rated. For the money you save by getting the 2.0T instead of the VR6, you can have the car chipped, add a cold air intake, and upgrade the downpipe, and still have money left over, to bring up the power to around 270 HP/330 TQ.

That guy is not that tall and his head is almost touching the roof. Have any tall people sat in this car?

@x2xhellx3x okay why would you even compare this with AMG class? AMG is a high performance series by Mb. At leaet you could’ve compared it with R line. But anyway, even if i had money to buy, i would’ve went with CC because CLS is really outdated…

@x2xhellx3x i dont think they where comparing it to the AMG, however i think the CC is better looking, but the CLS is overall a better car

By Justinw580i on December 7th, 2011 at 11:34 pm

itz just saying that audi is for the guy with cash

there is no way this thing is better than a mercedes cls!!! seriosly!!! wtf… cls 63 amg, will kick its ass to 0-100 .. It looks better.. It handels better! It is better build! And it sounds like the thunder!!!!
… passat my ass…

By TheUberfortuna on December 8th, 2011 at 12:27 am

you should check out some videos of ‘women’ trying to parallel park on youtube

i think u shouldnt comapare it to a4, compare to a6

boonboon2k2, that is so sexist of you,
who say women cant drive ….

haha, i not sure about the lane assist feature ma…^^

By boonboon2k2 on December 8th, 2011 at 1:55 am

i think this is very good for women drivers,
got lane assist wo …

I thought you are the VWfans , how come you are the one asking questions ?

how does it work? you mean it corrects the bearings of your car?

hey the lane assist feature is really quite cool

By jasmineyow89 on December 8th, 2011 at 3:33 am

Just a little bit of utility is sacrificed for a lot more style and flair, along with a host of high-tech features, to create a product that promises to be more desirable and exclusive

Does the Passat CC share the similar interior features like the new Toyota Camry model?

Moving inside, the sporty interior features the fabulously high-quality materials weve come to expect from the VW/Audi group, with new door trim that can offer optional ambient cabin lighting.

Is the interior make of high quality?

Agreed!

While hardly a sport sedan, the CC has a smooth, elegant demeanor when it’s driven below six- or seven-tenths. For the most part, four-door coupes incorporate low slung, sweeping rooflines that increase heart-throbs-per-minute, with the net negative effect being decreased headroom

By jasmineyow89 on December 8th, 2011 at 5:57 am

well it’s a pseudo coupe..could still be called a sedan =)

Why don’t you think it deserves to be called a coupe? Becoz it has 4 doors?
